Oral Arguments: NYSRPA v Bruen

Great analysis, it was interesting to listen too. It seemed like the justices where not fans of the discretion involved with "may issue" permits that require a "good cause" since you don't need a reason to exercise any other rights. They also seemed to focus on how "may issue" permits appear to have inconsistent criteria for "good cause" between rural vs. urban parts of NY. Underwood seemed to stumble over a lot of questions in that area.

I personally think "may issue" is definitely going to be struck down, but the scope of the ruling will be the big news. If Roberts, and as you suggest Kagan, sign on it could be very narrow, still allowing permitting and other requirements to carry a gun. If they don't it join the majority, could end up as a landmark a 2nd amendment case. The justices did bring up what kind of scrutiny should be applied to 2nd amendment issues which was very interesting.
