It literally hoisted Disney + to be a legitimate platform. Sure, people were subbing for nostalgia and the fact that it was one of the only ways to watch old flicks (thanks Disney vault) but honestly? New content solely hosted on their platform and the fact that it was a solid entry right alongside many other heavy hitters in the franchise (not quite winter soldier or infinity war, but leaps and bounds above Thor 2) means that had quite the impact.

That and it was something new to the MCU. A new medium used to explore depths of a main character that also was pushed to the limits of what is considered the norm even in the television world. It was essentially a 5 hour marvel movie. Something unheard of to this point.
