Orcs Must Die

Those don't sound like a fun board game at all.

The Orcs Must Die! board game will have several of them. It has creep spawns, lanes, killing creeps for resources, and fixed defense points similar to towers. This is somewhat novel for a board game, but similar mechanics have been implemented in games like Castle Panic. Castle Panic has creep lanes, towers in each lane, and an end-of-lane structure that the player protects from creeps. MOBAs are an evolution of tower defense, after all. And Pandemic: On The Brink uses limited visibility mechanics in a clean fashion. These mechanics have generally been successfully implemented in other board games, just not all together with a MOBA theme.

Perhaps a better description would be it's like a MOBA without all the creep and other video game trappings that wouldn't make for a fun board game?

What's the point of calling it a MOBA if it doesn't have the basic elements of a MOBA? Applying the title at that point is arbitrary.

I'm not sure how it's an "RPG" at all

I didn't write that it was an RPG, I wrote that it was a strategy RPG. Why did you ignore the term "strategy" in favor of misrepresenting my argument?

especially as you pointed out it does't have leveling up

Leveling up is a standard of MOBA gameplay as well. You are condemning the lack of leveling as a means of rejecting the SRPG genre title, then in the same breath stating that the lack of leveling doesn't keep Krosmaster from being considered a MOBA.

I suppose that makes it a strategy game. That doesn't tell someone a lot about it. That's a broad category.

Strategy RPGs are a specific, highly established genre that has existed across decades and several popular franchises. Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, the Disgaea Series, X-Com, and Jagged Alliance are all well recognized, multi-decade spanning, multi-generational SRPGs. More importantly, the Dofus/Waku game series Krosmaster is based on is explicitly SRPG formatted. The title text for the two games' sites both says "strategic MMORPG". You have to ignore this really hard in order to pretend it's a MOBA and not an SRPG.
