I organized a wip into days and charted out the (non-linear) chapters for the first time in my life and I seriously don’t know how I kept track of shit before!

My process is a little more straightforward but kind of similar. After I've come up with the story, I cut it down to scenes and from there I write down the names of each of the characters present. I then write down just enough about the characters to give an understanding of their personalities, which helps in almost every aspect from - dialogue to mannerisms, to even how the scene will play out. Only after doing this do I decide to start writing the scene.

I've realized that chapters are just a collection of scenes but more often than not, most writers will find it hard to properly write a chapter due to them misunderstanding the scope of the scenarios.
