The original and still the best

Horsepuckey. It came five years after this fucking amazing game, and barely even approached how good the arcade cabinet was.

Want to know how good the arcade game was? *It was so goddamn good that even five years later, shitty console versions of it were still in high demand.

Arcade gameplay versus Sega Genesis gameplay

The Master System absoutely was the best version, partially due to the real music being used, and partially because it could support burlier graphics requirements (the oter versions were significantly stripped down; here's the C64 version for comparison.

The Genesis port was remarkable, honestly. In order to even get it shoehorned in though this version averaged about 5fps, often bottoming out to 3fps; the arcade cabinet featured a smooth 30fps which made the console versions feel like playing a slideshow in comparison. This was one of the reasons it was so popular in the arcasdes (that and the hydraulic sit-down cabinets with bass speakers by your head and vibration feedback in the steering wheel).
