Orlando Women's March ♀✊

I'm going to preface this by saying that I fully agree with everything you're marching for. I just don't understand why. Or, more specifically why now? Why didn't you march for Bernie, the most progressive candidate in decades? Or even vote? Why didn't you march for Hillary, while arguably not nearly as progressive as Bernie, still better than Trump? Where were you when they were organizing the get out the vote? Where were you when it was time to vote? Where were you when they themselves were here for rallies in and around Orlando? Where were you when they needed you? Where were you when it mattered? I ask because I was there. I was there for every single one of those that I just listed off and I see an awful lot of fresh faces in these pictures.

This is the Facebook style of activism and it doesn't work. You go because you RSVP of Facebook and you know you won't actually have to do the hard thing of working towards a goal. The battle is lost, you're just showing up to pose on camera with the corpses and say how terrible it is that "we" lost. I'm sure some of the people there were fighting along side us but for the vast majority its too little, too late. I wish I could say I expect things to change next time, but they won't. I'll scrimp and save and eat Ramen for 6 months so I can donate every cent I have to the right candidates. I'll spend every weekend I have at events, and every second of free time during the week planning them. In the end, win or lose, these new people, these fresh faces, will come out and claim that "we" won or lost. There's no excuse for that. You made it to this event and there was only one. Where were you at any of the events that mattered?
