Most families who pray the rosary do it as a family and it's seen as a semi-liturgical activity. There are some beautiful high quality missals and prayer books with gilded gold letters some families have at home and I don't think it's excessive .Some Orthodox also wear beautiful baptismal crosses on their necks.

I understand where you're coming from, but feel uncomfortable with asserting one is spiritually superior. The line between appropriate and too much can vary.

One can become vain over one's home icon corner too so one may object to anything that is more than bare bones but that is an individual thing.
