[OT] How famous was Michael Schumacher in the peak of his popularity?

I'm not as active here as I used to be but man, the Schumi disrespect by newer "fans" (not all, but many people who came here from Netflix specials) is laughable and absolutely pathetic, just because Lewis has a chance to eclipse his records, people disrespect him constantly and say he was nothing more than a cheat with the "best car" (Ironic as Michael had less years with the clear best car than someone like Lewis). Not saying he was spotless lol, but I'm willing to bet these people have never seen him race in his prime.

Anyways, to give an example.... One of my friends, who literally thought F1 is some kind of band, recognized the name. He thought Schumacher was "some racer or NASCAR guy who got hurt a while ago", but the point still stands.
