[OT] Imprisoned former Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn "was smuggled out of Japan in a box designed for transporting musical instruments"

I can’t understand how such a respectable businessman can stoop to such lows? I don’t mean to be racist or xenophobic, but there’s been a ton of small time Lebanese business owners implicated in crime syndicates here who fled to Lebanon when the police were on their tales. It seems like it’s a bit of a habit among many successful diaspora Lebanese business owners involved in shady businesses or Tax evasion to seek refuge to their homeland once the dig is up. I’m surprised someone as dignified as Ghosn would do the same, when he could have just done what most billionaires do and bribe people in government to give himself a lenient sentence, where he would only spend at most two years in jail then continue growing his business fortune instead of becoming an international pariah and being trapped in an incredibly unstable country.
