Other perspectives to consider

I am guilty of this and you can probably find my comments saying as much, why?

Because it's mostly true.

new people into ham radio tend to think that you can get a tech license and "talk all over the world" as is the cliche of ham radio, well, it's technically true now with internet based ham radio, but I don't think this is what most expect.

I really do not see a point of only getting your technicians license when with just a little more cramming/studying you can get your general which grants you all the privileges of a technician, plus access to HF.

I honestly think the FCC should just get rid of the separate classes since this is already a niche hobby that does not need a splintered "fan base" if you will., but that is another topic i suppose.
