[Other] Those of you who have followed true crime for a long time: in what ways have true crime discussion communities evolved over the years? For better or worse?

The replies that are just revenge fantasies or hand-wringing need to go away. The one that sent me over the edge was in response to the Hart case, where a woman drove her van into the water and killed herself and the rest of her family (presumably - three of the kids were never accounted for). The kids had been chronically undernourished/starved for most of their lives, to the point that they appeared to be years younger than they were. And then someone here felt the need to comment about how they felt terrible for those "precious little babies." On top of being a vacuous sentiment, it was utterly tasteless to infantilize a bunch of teenagers whose growth had been stunted by years of abuse and neglect.
