Right but Wanda also has problems there. I think they are going to have to sell off AMC or their production interests.

Double dipping in the US is illegal. Back in the golden age, many one screen theaters were owned by the studios but they would obviously then have monopoly-type implications put on them for only showing their own movies and basically making it impossible for any type of indie movie to thrive. There was not only money issues, but great incentive for them to lie about earnings for publicity so that their movies seemed like bigger hits. Lots of problems overall, but then we passed a law to stop distributors from also being able to be in exhibition. Wanda is in murky waters here and the main reason this hasn’t been dealt with yet is because of their international status. It will definitely become an issue though, and soon
