Our favorite hen got killed by a hawk this morning, what was going to be pizza night is now chicken stir fry and chicken soup night. Figured we can best honor her by using every bit.

I believe that veganism/vegetarianism is the goal for sustainability and ethics moving forward.

However, for some people, this is what they need to do to survive. Before moving to the US, if my family buried a chicken when it died we'd be throwing away tons of necessary subsistence. Not everyone has the luxury of having access to a vegan/vegetarian diet, treating an already-dead animal with so much reverence, and letting any possibility of food slip by. I'm not going to make any assumptions about OP's place in life, but I find comments like these to be empathetically lazy and insensitive at best. Really reminds me of very similar comments my family received after immigrating
