'This is our home': Black Hebrew Israelites in shock after Israel announces deportation plan

I'm glad it helped. I once lived in a country in Asia and learning how many objective fundamental truths about the world were just societal views that they had never even heard of was very exciting and insightful. At the time I especially appreciated how there was no western-style association between shame and sex, even though I was uncomfortable with how that carried over into prostitution.

I'm also alluding to how the "centrality of definitions" you've noticed in other cultures also applies to you. I'm guessing you are in a regionally dominant culture and thus have the "fish don't realize they are wet" phenomenon.

Also my anecdote is obviously just an anecdote. You can find western style racist Jews, Jewish tribal style xenophobia, asshole Jews, etc. Basically the same as all humans, with a twist of Jewish flavor.

Intermarriage historically was a big Jewish concern, and that's just now changing. Israel has lowered the worry of the Jewish people disappearing, and America has provided a new path of how high rates of intermarriage doesn't have to mean assimilating out of existence.
