Our True Childhood Heroes

Back in the day (over 25 years ago, damn!), my 6th grade teacher would score our state standardized tests and anyone with over 90% on a section (Reading Comprehension, English, Math, Science) got to walk to Taco Bell for lunch (as a group, with parental permission). $7 limit per student per trip, and it say least half the class each time, so 15-20 kids. We thought we had the world by the tail, and none of us topped $6.

2 chili cheese burritos + medium drink (free refills) was, like, $5.85.

At the time, I think there was some schoolteacher deal at Papa John's because Every. Single. Pizza. Party. came from there. It was a good 2-3 years before I could even look at PJ's pizza and a few more before I could eat it without my stomach revolting against that sugary sweet sauce.

Lol, by the end of the year we hated pizza parties because we were all so tired of PJ's. I think she switched it up to Pizza Hut for the last one and we all cheered.
