Out of school for a while...where should I get my recommendations?

Five years isn't that long, especially if you had good relationships with your profs. Get as many from the English program as you can, and see if you can get what you are missing from the Ed program. If you get only one or two from the English program, and don't feel comfortable getting the 3rd from the Ed program, you can check with admissions where you are applying and ask if it's ok to have the 3rd be a professional rec if you've been out of school for a while.

If they ask for 3 academic recommendations, then you should really try to provide all three, and maybe supplement with a 4th reference from a colleague or supervisor who knows you really well.

If you are nervous about asking profs you haven't spoken to in years for a recommendation, there are great templates online that you can follow for this exact situation. You can also send them old assignments/papers you completed in their classes to help jog their memories. Most professors are happy to write recommendations, and will probably be glad to hear an update from you!
