Overseas divorce?

Can you have it sent to your work or other location?

I understand you'd need time to read and digest it, and it may be hard to justify (conceal) that time away from home, but I strongly suspect you'll save more than the cost of the book in lawyer fees. A lawyer can save you a lot of time by cutting to the germane issues, but you can save more billable hours by knowing what the germane issues are (some issues may not matter as much once you find out how much time/money they'll cost you).

OTOH, books aren't the best "cold start" for everyone. I have two doctorates, without the standard texts, I'd be nowhere--but I often didn't fully appreciate their wisdom until I had practical experience in the specific subject. Now they seem to drip with gold.

Have you looked into any divorce support groups on your base? I'd guess it has some: military life is hard on marriages. While the services offer direct administrative help, it can be spotty. You may want to hear the war stories from "those who lived it" (with the caveat that people don't always fully understand/recount the salient details of their own cases -- it's too personal).
