First of all, I am not saying that either game is good or bad. I think both games are 'good' in their own way.

Second, do you seriously think that ANY competitive game is balanced solely around professional play? There literally isn't enough data to support that properly. CSGO, LOL, DOTA, Overwatch, and others all get at least one balance update per month. There aren't enough pro games played in a month to properly put out a balance update so if you are balancing solely around pro play you are doing it wrong.

There is a lot that goes into balancing a complicated game, like analyzing statistics, interactions with the community, things like power creep or character obsoleteness, and more. If you don't understand that the professional players are one very small portion of the community then you are as stupid as you sound.
