Overweight girl called out by her brother for claiming a genetic condition for her size

Except that you've posted comments stating that you've never struggled with your weight, and your metabolism is just fine in the past. Also that you were diagnosed as an adult. So I'm assuming this is coming from a woman with pcos and only fertility side effects, not a woman who was diagnosed as a child and had to deal with it long term.

I have had mild pcos since I was 12, and I am tall but never "obese" or even really overweight, so I won't say that I fit in with the expectations for pcos either, nor do I have issues from it beyond bad acne and fertility problems, but I do have a friend who failed to go through puberty because of it, and when she was put on hormones and medication, she gained 75 pounds in the first year.

So I would say, from one woman to another who don't fit into the normal range of pcos symptoms, our experiences are vastly different from many other women's and many women experience far more visible side effects.

I sympathize with the fertility aspect of pcos as I need to stay in check with my medications and diet to maintain a normal schedule, which is already difficult enough, so I can't imagine dealing with obesity on top of it as well and I feel for the women who do. I imagine some do bring it upon themselves though, I have no doubts about that.

I can't speak for every woman with pcos, neither could you, but I will say that my experience which is similar to yours, is very different from many women with pcos that I have met. It's unfortunately a very individualized disorder that effects many women differently, which makes treatment very non-linear.
