Overweight girl called out by her brother for claiming a genetic condition for her size

All joking aside, it really does suck when you have a problem relationship with food. Speaking as a person who has struggled with his size for years, I can say that it's really scary the type of lizard-brain hold food can have over you sometimes. There were points in my life before I got myself under control where no amount of self-control could stop me from feeling the unbearably strong urge to shovel more food into my face. It's like an addiction. Looking back on it, it's crazy to think that eating 3 cheeseburgers with fries and a large soda genuinely seemed like the correct amount of food to be eating. It's like some kind of mind control. You just don't see shit normally. I guess my point in saying all of this is that I don't believe fat shaming or making excuses for yourself are helpful in any way. It creates this "us vs. them" mentality that becomes really unhealthy for both sides to participate in. We obviously shouldn't make excuses for fat people or say that it's ok to be fat. It's not ok. It's really unhealthy and a huge burden on our healthcare system. But attacking them only serves to push them into a defensive stance that produces shit like OP's post. "Genetics" is just one example of bullshit cooked up by fat people who felt they needed to create an excuse to defend against the ridicule. It's just a nasty cycle that doesn't help anyone.
