I dare say by virtue of MDMA being an amphetamine your memory of past events is clearer than normal, but because you're comfortable and feeling pleasure the fight or flight responses go out the window and you've now associated something that previously induced terror with a good experience. You've rewritten those memories in a positive or, at the very least, neutral light.
