I paid 10 dollars in delivery fee and none of it is for the driver? So what's the fee for then?

Pizza delivery itself is a huge scam.

First of all, every national chain pizza restaurant uses frozen dough. No one mixes and tosses dough anymore; haven’t for decades. The dough comes in frozen, is proofed in the morning at around 150-250 degrees F, and then they pre-prep a ton of pizzas with sauce and cheese to get ready for the lunch and dinner rushes. Yes, this dries out both the sauce and cheese. Yes, they are supposed to rotate these every few hours and not reuse them the next day. No, these rules are not followed.

Second, let’s talk about cheese. There has been a growing surplus of cheese in the U.S. for the last decade or so. We can’t get rid of our cheese. Americans love cheese, though, right? Absolutely! So the pizza chains take this opportunity to go ham (no pun intended) on cheese. Stuffed crust. Cheese bites. Cheese bread. Cheese sticks. Extra cheese. The catch? $2 for extra cheese as a topping. $5 more for the stuffed crust if you don’t get the “special deal.”

And let’s mention those so-called special deals. The aren’t special. They are year round. They only tell you about the ones that are more likely to be used at certain seasons. And many coupons the employees themselves don’t even know exist. It’s all to keep the actual cost of making the pizza appear high, so that the “deals” they give you seem better. All the while, they decrease the quality of the pizza slowly over time while simultaneously increasing the “regular menu price.” This gives the illusion that the pizza is getting kore expensive to produce (it’s not), and therefore the “deal” offered is closer to cost.

It’s all about getting you in the door and getting as much profit as possible for as little labor as possible. The quality of the food is a secondary concern.
