Pakistan frees captured Indian pilot

Fair enough, I’ll concede that armed conflict could be considered a “war”.

What about the other point that you did not bother addressing? The POWs are only required to be released once the conflict is over.

Is the conflict over or was it over when the pilot was released? No? Then there was no obligation to release him.

Just concede the point and move on.

Which brings us to the second point, that the threat of war/pressure forced Imran Khan’s hand. That is an asinine assertion as the two countries were already on the brink of war and that situation hasn’t changed. What was modi going to do? Threat more war on top of war? His threats weren’t anything more than political point scoring to placate his supporters after his tactical mistakes blew up in his face. He needs to win an election after all.

His decision to go to war never hinged on whether Pakistan was going to release a pilot or not and if you’re going to use a captured pilot as the basis for a war then maybe don’t send him into enemy territory in the first place.
