It wasn't supported by all Americans. Not even close. That's why it was never labeled an actual war. Congress didn't approve a war. That's why its referred to as a conflict.

Its probably a good point to make to your children, on whatever level they understand. Bush immediately wanted war because of this story, and he was denied, but sent thousands od troops over anyways.

It was a horrific attack, and almost 3000 Americans died that day. But he was NOT granted his war, and still sent another 4500 troops to their deaths, as well as killing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people, most of which had nothing to do with what happened.

Its sad to read that they filled today with propaganda and hate, especially in front of children. That wording is meant to reinforce the 'Muslims are bad' bullshit, and they're doing this with small children who weren't even alive for the events. Its despicable. Most Muslims had nothing to do with it, and wouldn't even dream of that level of violence. Every group of people has extremists who are going to cause chaos. There's Mormons marrying multiple children. There's Christians inappropriately touching children. But its not all of them and we aren't shoving that inappropriate crap down kids throats. Its unacceptable.
