Parents disappointed with 520 MCAT.

If your parents are immigrants who grew up in countries while they were developing (Africa, East Asia, South Asia, ect), remember that they grew up in settings where the best seats and prospects were easily purchased, and the only way to guarantee decent placement or opportunity was to score better than anyone else. This is an expression of them wanting you to be secure and make it, especially if they see you or themselves as not having the network, connections, or wealth to do that. It is an expression of their anxiety for you because they want you to have an unhindered future and the chance to pursue whatever because you have the scores to prove it. Just understand that part of them, but also appreciate them for bringing you to a place where you can think about your career and future without those anxieties. They provided you exactly what they wanted, a future of hope, but their past vision of what their world was is still tainting their vision of today. Don't take it personally, their world is not yours.
