Parents don't care about crate training outside of sleep

Sorry, I don’t have a particular link on crate training for you. Wanted to say that I crate trained my puppy, used it a lot when she was younger and am grateful for it. It helped with potty training, settling an over-tired puppy and getting her used to some alone time. It’s also much safer and advised that your dog travel inside a crate during car rides; think of it as a seat belt. I‘ve talked with multiple people who think crating is “cruel”, then proceed to tell me how their puppies destroyed furniture and thousands in electronics... It blows my mind.

I don’t use crate so much anymore but at times it’s still useful. Example: sometimes family member’s visit with their dogs and, my puppy being 1yo gets extremely excited and playful. After a while it’s clear she needs a nap yet is too caught up with what the visiting dogs are doing to rest. At those times I send her to her crate and instantly she falls asleep! After a couple hours of rest, she comes out in a much less bratty mood.

Just wanted to share some reasons why I’ve found crate training immensely useful and will always recommend :) Also, I always thought the 8hr per day rule excludes night time sleeping arrangements.
