Parents and Medicine

Nothing wrong with taking an acceptable degree and then trying to find out what you’re interested in while you’re working a 9-5 job. There’s time.

You know what’s the problem with “following your dream”? No one else gives a shit about your dream except yourself. What they care about is what you can provide to them.

So if you can get some financially stable skills in college or university, others are willing to pay for your skills and then you at least have a roof over your head while you try to figure out what you really want to do.

If you decide too early, you might get stuck with your path for a very long time. Sometimes that path...you can’t reverse your steps.

I’m not smarter or wiser than you, so please take my comment with a grain of salt. I just have enough shit experiences related to “following my dreams” that I recognise when someone is feeling guilty inside that he’s got no passion for anything.

You know what it’s like “following your dreams”? You don’t know when you’ll make it. Could be years, could be decades. And meanwhile you have to make a living for yourself and if you have no other marketable skills, you’re not worth much to employers.

Right now I have no choice but to continue spending about 30 hours a week working on my craft, 10 hours a week keeping up with my Japanese and 30 hours trying to learn knowledge related to work related stuff while doing a 9 to 5 job.

You know what that makes me? A social retard with no life, definitely no romance and I hope to goodness that I can keep my efforts up for the next few years.

And an idiot who’s earning much less than my peers because they’ve got job experiences and promotions while I was “pursuing my dream”.

You don’t want to be me. Go find an area of study with decent job prospects so that you can get a marketable skill and then you’ll be able to find your passion or pursue your dreams while being financially stable.
