Parents, I realise kids aren't reading as much and I am worried they will grow up ignorant. What do you guys think about this educational game idea that I have been working on to fix this?

Uhh... Yes I would let my son play this until he got bored in what? 30 seconds. Sorry to be negative but there's a very good reason why there isn't an educational game to end all educational games on the market and that's because, by their very nature, they're not fun.

The only way you're going to make anything of this sort work is to have really solid gameplay and a catchy story that kids can relate to. Kids don't want school busses and pets, they want monsters, magic and strife. I, myself a gamer absolutely despised games like yours because they're so transparent, you're not making a game, you're making a learning tool and it FEELS like one.

If you want kids to read then get some good books, sit down and READ to them, I think you'll find the time they spend with you discovering the amazing worlds that books can contain will soon become just as entertaining as the latest brightly coloured attraction grabbing games. I myself have had no problem balancing my kids reading and gaming time.

Games are games, they can be educational, intelligent and witty but education should never substituted for a game.
