Parents signed me up to build a computer for someone even though I don't know how. I put the parts together but the LEDs on the power button light up for a second and then turn back off.

Ah, well, I think you might be rushing somewhat abruptly to judgement of my character, because guess what: I too hate the corporate "team building exercises"!

I detest them with a passion!

Although some people say it works great for them to bond with their co-workers, so I guess I too shouldn't leap to judgement against those who like the corporate version of "bonding" exercises.

But if there's one thing you and I can both agree upon... that would be it! Corporate team bonding is not for me.

However, I LOVE time with my family and friends.

That's VERY different from corporate bonding exercises you are talking about in your message. (Like night and day!)

Thus, I found when a family member asks me to do work on their computer, rather than park myself off in a back room, I just bring the computer right on out to the party, and sit with everyone while doing the work.

I MUCH prefer doing it that way.

And I noticed a lot of people actually take an interest and curiosity to what I'm doing and ask me questions.

I think I might have inspired one of my younger nephews to become interested in computers, as he asked me a million questions while I was working, and now he's been asking his Mom to get him some computer-books.
