Paris mayor may ban black feminist Nyansapo festival - BBC News

From what I have read, it's because it's a so called "blacks only" event, which is illegal in France. The event is suppose to save 80% of the venue exclusively for black women, with another part for black people of any gender, and whatever the remainder is; for anyone else. That's basically what I understood from it. It was posted on another sub, earlier today. This is all I really read for myself, but U/IAintThatGuy wrote :"In France you're not allowed under (as a private citizen or business) to record people's sexual preferences, political affiliations, health status, ethnic origins, religious affiliations. And absolutely not allowed to discriminate based on those, or gender.

There are exceptions but they are few and far between and require prior approval from relevant institutions. For instance if you work in something health related of course you get to keep health records (but then you have to adhere to even stricter rules on the management of your data)."

EDIT : since a lot of people asked, the "health status" (not the best way to put it) I mentionned is something that can often legally get recorded. For instance, if your business is transportation, you could record that someone is in a wheelchair so that you send only adequate vehicles for them. Or that a client is deaf so that your employee does not knock on the door and get no response. But you need to be able to prove it's both necessary for you to do your job, and is done in the interest of the person whose health information you record. And of course obey even more stringent privacy rules (never share that info with 3rd parties for instance).
