Paris mayor mocks absurd fine for hiring too many women."I am happy to announce we have been fined," AnneHidalgo,Mayor said after being told she'd broken the law by hiring too many women for her management team.

God yes. When I finally ended up with female management, I was shocked. I had never felt so listened to, I could actually bring up issues that I had. She still was a bit old school and kind of brushed off an actual sexual harrassment complaint initially, but she gave it some thought and apologized the next day. Apologized. I had never had a male manager apologize for anything (except my dope ass manager I had when I worked at a coffee shop when I was younger--he was cool as hell). In one of my previous jobs, we had 2 new people, one man and one woman, come in at the same time learning the same stuff. They made the same mistake on the same day. Me and my male partner watched him go over to the new guy and calmly explain that that wasn't how we did things, patted him on the back and said "it's okay, you're learning." He went over to the new woman and said "I don't ever want to fucking see you do this shit ever again." Like he wasn't yelling necessarily, but he was hella hostile. My partner was like "Is it just me or was that super fucked?" My partner was a pretty traditional conservative person so for him to point it out made it click how many fucked up things all my male managers have just gotten away with and I just thought I was being sensitive about it and seeing something that wasn't there.

Being told I'm a lot prettier when I smile, comments on my hips/butt/waist, being constantly talked over, having a man say what I just fucking said that got shot down but sounds better when he says it. I actually had a male coworker who I love to bits who started doing that intentionally. I would say something in meetings, he would paraphrase it at first they would think it's great, and he would just do the "Office Jim stare" at me. Then he got more brazen and started just repeating what I said word for word until people started catching on what he was doing. It was a good run.

Sorry went OT there, but I have been holding that rant in for a minute lol.
