Parking in parent and child spots

I've lived that scene over and over. I don't even say it to the people with any anger, because you genuinely never know peoples reasons, they always give me grief for even saying it, then I get it worse from my wife.

I mentioned this before to my mates and one of them, no children except for the cars he treats like children, said "but sure I'll always take the space so nobody dings my car". But surely you're forcing the cars likely to cause those dings into the smaller spaces, when the children throw the door open etc. So next time there are no parent spaces for you to park in to save your car... you've partly created the problem yourself when you park elsewhere. I also look forward to when/if he has children.
