Parkland students unveil sweeping gun-control proposal and hope for a youth voting surge in 2020

Sounds like a no-brainer to me, but I’ve also heard a lot of fearmongering from gun lovers about having any sort of centralized database - or any easily accessible database.

The current system, I’ve heard, is an all-paper warehouse situation with just one person who has access - an intentional bureaucratic slowdown. Not sure if that applies to “who can own a gun” or “who actually owns a gun and what guns they own.”

But I’d expect you’d get some conservative resistance to any gun-related safety database as well, as they’d fear it would eventually lead to the government being able to track every gun owner and make it easier for them to “take our guns” in the future. They seem extremely paranoid about taking any steps in the right direction, no matter how small.
