I wish people would stop repeating this.
Yoshi-P was asked what his personal opinion was. Yoshi-P, while a very cool game director, does not do the entire lore/writing of this game.
Furthermore, Yoshi-P said [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2TWmsce_eg&t=10679s) which is commonly misrepresented from the PLL digest rather (which does pretty poor summaries) than his actual words, which were (again, in relation to what HIS PERSONAL OPINION was, not ACTUAL FACTUAL TIME PASSED):
To be honest, that's really hard and I don't have a particular figure in mind. Uh, when we're making the trailers- when we're coming up with the storyboards and things like that we actually think about like, okay, you know the Warrior of Light has done these different adventures; How would they look now imagining it with a time frame of 2 or 2.5 years each time just like in reality what you all have done?
But the trailers are really not reflecting the length of the story itself, um, so I would appreciate it if you guys could think of them as separate things.
Uh as far as the actual story is concerned I don't really have an exact figure in mind or an exact imagining of how long it's been since 1.0
Yeah I mean because if I go down that rabbit hole I will never stop; "How old is Y'shtola?". I don't know, I don't want to think about it. It's better not to think about it and just feel, vibe. Hear, feel, think, perhaps.
But even ignoring that, just think about what you said.
"It's not what the game says (and by extension, the writers), multiple times, it's what Yoshi-P says."
That's non-sensical, for several reasons, such as:
1) Why even have writers if what they write isn't gospel?
2) Why even have a narrative MSQ in the game if what is in the game isn't true?
3) Why trust what any character says in the game if what they say isn't accurate? Nanamo, Lyse, Tataru, Yurigiri, and the myriad of characters that mention how many years since the Fall of Doma or how many years since Ala Mhigo or how many years since Dalamud are all liars now or so stupid they can't keep track of years I guess?
4) Why have promotional material or lore books that state character ages that are the exact same as they were in ARR (ShB promo material lists the twins as 16) if that's a lie?
