Passengers stuck on United flight in frigid cold for more than 14 hours

Raised in an area that this airport services. What nobody seems to understand is that the Goose Bay airport is that it mainly services local, provincial flights. There might be one flight from Halifax or Montreal on a given day, but 90% of the commercial flights that pass through there are Dash-8's or Twin Otters flying to Newfoundland or Labrador. As others have said, it has acted as a pit stop for larger planes before, but it's just that. There are also the military flights which make up the majority of international flights passing through. In terms of security there's one line usually operated by a couple of security officers. The waiting area for large flights isn't for 20 people as most are saying, I reckon you could push thirty, maybe more. In terms of size, the airport has three gates to enter flights from.
