We’ve all been there: a moment where darkness begins sucking at our souls, poisoning our emotions with negativity. Panicking, you struggle to process the reality of your situation. You feel a heaviness in your heart that begs you to quit going. But then it hits: a flood of joy and sorrow - a montage of memories you share with loved ones. It snaps you back and you’re able to push forward.

In this moment, Harry accepts that his father won’t be the one to save him: only Harry can. He holds on to that love inside of him and watches it manifest into a bursting bubble of light, pulsating throughout the forest. A sense of relief hits him as he regains control of his breathing. You can see Hermione in utter shock and amazement; her best friend, of only thirteen, was able to swallow his fear and find courage inside of his heart that allowed him to defeat the dementors — showing her that anyone can stand up to evil.

2020 has shown us some of the darkest moments in our history, but for this holiday season, I encourage EVERYONE to find their “Patronus Charm” — whether it be a memory, a song, or even something tangible. Find your light and don’t let that go! Whatever obstacle you’ve got ahead of you, you KNOW you can get through it. But there will be some that will find it more difficult, and I’m speaking directly to them: been there, done that. But not anymore! When fear, or anger, start seeping into your body, use your Patronus to fight back! Never compare your situation to others. Everyone is on their own journeys, so there’s no point in trying to rush your growth for an experience that wasn’t meant for you. Stay true to yourself and always remain humble.
