Paul Bongiorno: PM shirks duty in gold-standard quarantine blame game

It's a weird argument to say that the federal government isn't responsible for quarantine adminstration of incoming travellers through the federal borders. It was a master stroke of bullshit from the Federal liberal government when they pushed their responsibilities for this onto the states.

They then don't have to take any responsibility for anything that goes wrong and can sit there and bitch about labour fucking things up as they pass their responsibilities for the borders to the states. Only problem is, states running quarantining is a terrible idea as the multiple failures in the quarantine facilities has shown. States are not equipped to manage this, they don't have the resources are are therefore relying on private companies who aren't trained adequately.

I've got to hand it to them though, they're master political manipulators. It'd be awesome if they could apply some of this mastery to actually doing their jobs though and you know, secure the fucking borders like we pay them to.

We spend billions on "border force" so they can put some refugees in detention but where the fuck are they when the country faces a real threat? Nowhere. It's suddenly the state's responsibility. May as well not have a federal government at this point.
