Pay Attention

Was in Navy at Great Mistakes (Chicago boot camp) and a really old full bird (Captain in Navy, same rank as colonel in Army with a rank insignia of an eagle) with white hair gave me a filling. He put the Novocain in and it wore off completely before he started drilling. I was a dumb farm kid and tried to tell him but he just gave me this stare and I laid back and he began drilling. I kept it in the entire time thinking this was more boot camp shit I had to endure (dumb farm kid remember?) and it wasn’t until he was done and looked at the arm rests and saw my finger prints pressed into them that he actually changed expression.

Then when I went to sub school I had two young doctors who filled in two cavities and I didn’t know they’d even started when they were sending me out the door.

Military medical is a completely mixed bag depending on where you are.
