‘Pay me my worth’: restaurant workers demand livable wages as industry continues to falter | Food & drink industry

I used to work at a Home Depot and I was going to school part time. I chose my classes specifically so I would be able to work full shifts around them as I had typically been working opening shifts, but as soon as my availability started being "limited", they started scheduling me to come in later so my shifts were cut in half by the hours I wasn't available, effectively taking ~15 or so hours out of my workweek. The HR person (who I was close with and didn't like it there) said that the schedules were generated by a program.

I also heard a manager there tell a kid "You can either go to college or you can keep your job" - the dude just walked out.

They literally don't want people to have lives outside of work.
