Having a functioning society? You both just have varying ideas of how to achieve it and where to draw the line based on your own experience.

My goal is specifically the full fulfillment of every individual through a more just, more democratic vision of the economy and society at large, reducing the unjust power so few have over our society. To be frank, the right have the opposite goal.

You have been fooled into believing in caricatures of the other over a very long period. The right is obviously much worse at this currently as they have been won over by lunatics with false promises but writing everyone off as a facist is just childish, stupid and counter productive.

I've not been fooled by anyone, it's simply self evident to me that my views are irreconcilable with that of liberals / rightists. I don't write everyone off as fascists, I just have this understanding that the goals of the right are completely alien to my own.

Your grandparents who say inappropriate, slightly offensive things and vote Republican aren't the next Nazi party. Grow up and start trying to respect other points of view. You'll find most of them are pretty reasonable people if a little misguided and can be talked to like human beings, not comical stereotypes.

Im not going to respond to most of this, but in my opinion part of growing up is knowing that sometimes people are too entrenched to reach, but that most are not, sure.

You are picking teams and trying to dehumanise anyone who disagrees with you as fascists and monsters while ignoring your own because it doesn't fit with what you want to believe.

The only people I call fascists and monsters are fascists and monsters. I try not to dehumanize them, as that'd be counterproductive to preventing and combatting fascism. I'm not sure what you mean by "ignoring your own," but I'll tell you this: I have no fascist friends.
