PCMR Has made me sad for the first time

My thoughts:

It's bullcrap about you getting hating on for having criticisms. That being said, I don't find your argument exactly accurate.

Bear in mind I don't own FO4 yet, but I've watched it, seen that it's clunky, and I've seen screenshots/benchmarks/bug errors/you name it. In fact, I've never played a Fallout game until it released. The day FO4 came out, I bought Fallout New Vegas to ease my hype until who-knows-when I can get it.

I was blown away by how poor the graphics are in FONV. It looks like Garry's Mod mixed with with a little Oblivion. And it came out in 2010, after the Witcher, Mass Effect, Arkham Asylum, etc. And it looks like ASS compared to them. Textures are super low-res, faces and character models look straight out of Oblivion, animations are clunky as all hell, proportions feel off.

Skyrim's graphics felt a lot better for a year later. I remember playing it and being blown away, in fact, it's still good. The thing is (and I may be pulling inferences here) Fallout's dev team (perhaps another branch inside of Bethesda) is either completely different people, or a hell of a lot smaller.

Now my main point- compared to the old titles, FO4 looks frickin amazing. I watched it in my second monitor while diddling around in the Mojave, and I was just blown away by how much better it looks, and how amazing the models, NPCs, character, proportions, kind of the animations (they are a bit clunky, I'll give you that), etc are.

Also your analogies aren't exactly accurate- like, at all. You didn't drop $20,000+ on a game like you would a car, and you wouldn't be using it every single day to transport your lives and others. If the engine is broken, that's it. Your car pooped the nursing bed and you can't use it at all. If Fallout has some bugs (even some major ones) you can still play the game! Also, people aren't only defending it "because they like the brand". Maybe some are, but the vast majority either enjoy the new updated graphics with the same great mechanics and game play, along with a new story.

Lastly, I get that no Triple-A title in 2015 should run and look so poor (comparatively to other T-A titles), but can you expect every single studio to put out a game that looks like the Witcher? Sure, Bethesda has a ****load of money, but maybe they don't have the same resource power, members of the game working, or even the necessary budget. (Remember Bethesda still works on other games.) Fallout games have never exactly looked good when they came out, and that's why I think it is weird that everyone has their panties in a twist so bad.

And regarding patches, it is true. They will patch the game. And until they do, you can still enjoy the game and what you have there. If this game were a car like the analogy you made, until the time they "fix the engines" would leave your life in shambles, but it isn't like the game straight up doesn't work.

I'm not condoning their business practices. I'm not saying we shouldn't be a little upset. I'm just saying that I'm an 8-story tall crustacean from the Paleozoic Era, and this was my $3.50.
