I think this is a good example of the dangers of "outrage culture" as amplified by social media. I could be wrong, but the way I see it, Danny was just making a harmless joke at the expense of the Royal Family. But people on social media interpreted it as racist because it's a monkey and the baby has black heritage. So without making any reference to race, Danny got fired because of the way other people interpreted his joke. Let's remember that it was the outraged masses who made the connection to race, not Danny.

Of course, he should have thought it through, (and probably shouldn't have done it), but it's still a sad sign of the times that people's interpretations can now have real-world consequences if they kick up enough fuss.
