People can use anxiety to motivate themselves, study finds

I used to be able to enjoy video games, playing trading card games, and going outside.

These days the anxiety from a video game piles up so quickly that within 30 minutes of playing Killer Instinct 3 i want to smoke a carton of cigarettes.

I agree with Jabadamark...

Games have become much more complex than they used to be with way more happening and the whole expereince is designed to stimulate your brain as much as possible. Compare playing killer Insinct 3 to the super nintendo version for a good example (or just watch some HD footage on YouTube with the game sounds included).

Same for trading card games. For me it went like Pokemon -> MTG -> Force of Will. Every step of the way things just got more complicated, which I wanted, but when you pair the human interaction aspect of it the whole thing goes south pretty quickly.

As for the going outside thing, it used to just be I was ashamed of what I looked like (still am) but now I also have to worry that somebody is gonna point out "hey there's the guy that watches porn every night" in front of all the neighbors. So I just don't go outside.
