People in customer service, who is your least favorite customer?

I worked for a large chain of department stores as a Visual supervisor; basically I was the guy that set up displays, mannequins, graphics etc. It was a full time position but I would often finish early and spend the rest of my day helping out other associates around the store. One day I’m standing near the jewelry counter and a man is becoming increasingly angry, to the point that he is becoming verbally abusive with the girl working jewelry. Saying she is “Stupid, and to get someone else". She is crying at this point. I walk behind the counter and begin to take over the situation and ask how I can help. The guy is trying to return a watch that was never sold in our store. Like a brand we had never carried.

He begins getting very irate and just starts screaming profanity etc. At this point the manger is already there agreeing with me that the watch wasn’t in our system and had never been sold at our stores. The guy starts yelling about how he is the original drummer for a very famous band (so famous that I guarantee that anyone in the USA has heard of them and their music)

“Do you know who I am? I drummed for ______ when they first started” etc, etc. “I’ll never shop here again” and goes on and on until he finally accepts that there is genuinely nothing we could do and leaves. He had his truck was sideways out of the parking lot.

Afterwards we looked him up and sure enough he was the original drummer for that band. A bout a year later I saw in the news that he had passed away in a wreck in that same exact truck. It’s a sad situation; I hope he found some peace, because he seemed troubled. TL:DR A guy got very upset when we wouldn’t return an item, Said he was a drummer for a very famous band. He was.
