I personally interpreted this as in someone else was being an asshole, you stood up for it and now he hates you over it. Maybe I've read too much /r/IDontWorkHereLady but I feel a lot of people will hate you for pointing out that they're wrong. Not everyone is as irrational as the amazing specimen we have in that sub but there are some alright.

i.e. if you were a person to call my S.O. a hoe for not sleeping with you and I'd tell you to fuck off after that, I would imagine that you would be pissed at me. Now I've stood up for something and someone in my life and have someone to hate me over it.

Obviously it's not as simple and black and white as this but I hope you see where I'm coming from.
