People gathering for the March today at the County Building

Let me get this out of the way real quick, I'm not a conservative. I'm a gun owner.

You have a bunch of crowds, largely consisting of children, 0 of them are gunowners. The children who do hunt and own guns, I am positive none of them are there.

While I don't want to down play the deaths of 17 children, this whole thing is pretty ridiculous to me. You have thousands of people every year die from gun violence. A majority of those are suicides, followed by the majority of violent gun deaths are overwhelmingly handgun related and significantly skewed to the black community, despite making up a very small percentage of our overall population.

So it's damn near almost systemically racist to watch these people protest about "assault rifle bans" which all automatic assault rifles are already banned, and continue to hear absolutely nothing about the thousands of Black males that are murdered by handgun violence every year.

This next statement is overwhelmingly going to be unpopular here on Reddit, but I'm sorry. My second ammendment right absolutely Trumps the lives of 17 dead school children. In the essence of why the 2nd ammendment was created and why it is so damn important and to consider the hundreds of genocides and attrocities that have happened to people at the hands of their government's just in the last century alone that has resulted in millions of deaths of people, I totally back up that statement. I feel for those affected, I'd probably feel different if it were one of my children, but a lot of us gun owners, not just conservatives, understand the significance of the right to bear arms, and the utter ridiculousness of this uneducated war against "assault weapons"
