People need te learn to take a compliment

That’s true for the attention seekers out there, but I can’t take compliments because I’m convinced the other person is lying. As soon as I hear something like, “Your hair looks great today!”, my gut reaction is to deflect since my brain instantly goes: “How can my hair look “great” when it barely looks fine? When your hair looks nearly perfect? No. My hair is awful by comparison and we both know it, so it can’t look good let alone great...”

So I thank the other person quickly and put on a smile for their sake while fixing my hair to look even better so that I can see what he / she sees. I can’t even stand taking pictures with others because I’ll just zero in on every individual flaw until I’m in front of the mirror doing the same thing. Having a very low self image can warp how you see yourself, but I’m trying to work on it.
