People that have nice cars, what do you do for a living?

My advice: work hard and be smart with your money. Don’t waste it on stupid shit.

Whenever I hear a rich person say this it bothers the crap out of me. How hard you work or how smart you are with your money won't get you any closer to responsibly owning multiple new-ish Porsche's if you're only making close to median wage. If you want extremely expensive toys, yes you're going to need to be at least somewhat responsible with your money, but more improtantly you're going to need to make a lot of money in the first place.

Hard work is only one part of having money and isn't always necessary. You also need to constantly be making intelligent career decisions and have a good amount of luck on top of that. For every person who just had to work hard and be smart with their money to become rich there are 10 other people who did the same thing and are living an average life. It's all a big game and it's rigged so that not everyone starts on the same footing.
