People planning on moving out of Denver, what are your reasons?

My wife and I will be moving back to New York early next year. I was born and raised in London, and then moved to New York for 10 years before we moved to Denver 3.5 years ago. We didn't have any specific desire to move here, but I got offered an interesting career opportunity, and the living costs were/are a lot less (yeah, I know, sorry, but I paid about 50% of what I'd pay for an equivalent property in my old neighborhood in Brooklyn).

Denver is a great place to live, we're in Wash Park, which I love, but it's just not really us. We thought we might become more outdoorsy, but that never really happened, and we just miss the big city too much. It's still very much a driving city, and we miss being able to walk places and just amble around. I mean, walking from Wash Park to Cherry Creek, Cap Hill, or even all the way downtown is walkable, but I'd just have no reason to do so, whereas in New York we would start walking around and just see what we get up to. I miss the energy of a major city, and obviously Denver has a good amount going on, but you never feel that 'buzz' anywhere. I also just miss being closer to Europe. I like how friendly the people are, but it's so mono-cultural here. It'll always have a place in my heart, but this has enforced my belief that it's very hard to change who you are, and I'm just more comfortable in denser and more culturally rich cities.
