To the people predicting Blockbuster Video to rise from the ashes: streaming didn’t come until way later.

Let’s bypass the possible (inevitable) case of eliminating net neutrality leading to exactly this and only focus on an early stage of things to come.

From your viewpoint as an economist, what does the likelihood of ISPs essentially penalizing companies that don’t “play ball” in the near future say about their business model? Will Google/Elon Musk/Unknown Brand X be able to take advantage of the current animosity and create an option that we all want to jump on, thus killing the current big business plan we’re anticipating and creating the free market situation that the right is suggesting will happen? Or will Comcast/AT&T/etc. be able to create a stranglehold on the businesses that need to ensure they’re in the fast lane to maintain their own businesses?

I know I’m asking a large yet specific question to a random person who gave a one sentence answer on something totally different. And I know it doesn’t even delve into the damage this does to new and smaller startups. I’d just like to hear a random qualified opinion on this one specific aspect.
